Sisters Found Dead in Savannah Murder-Suicide

The Chatham County Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred at a residence on Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2024. Police were called to the 100 block of Windfield Drive in Savannah at approximately 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult women in their 70s dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

According to witnesses, the women were sisters. One sister, who had been living with and caring for their 98-year-old father at the home, was shot by the other sister. The suspect, who had reportedly been experiencing homelessness and had ongoing issues with her sister about gaining access to their father’s house, broke in through the back door. She shot her sister in the chest before turning the gun on herself.

Autopsy results for both women are pending. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
