Sparta Police Dispatcher Killed in Hit-and-Run on I-95 in Jacksonville
Sparta, GA Police Department Dispatcher Mary Jones, Badge #305, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run while assisting a stranded motorist on I-95 in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred on Thursday at 12:35 a.m. Jones, 63, was struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene.
According to state troopers, the vehicle involved is believed to be a black or dark gray Ford Explorer, model years 2016-2019. It is expected to have significant damage to the front passenger side, including a missing side mirror and damage to the right front bumper.
Dispatcher Jones was a dedicated public servant who served the community with distinction. The Sparta Police Department, her family, and her colleagues are mourning her loss. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
