Atlanta Police Sergeant Injured in Accidental Shooting
On September 16, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Atlanta officers responded to 3493 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway following a report of an injured officer. Upon arrival, they found an Atlanta Police Department (APD) Sergeant who had sustained an accidental gunshot wound to the leg.
The Sergeant was injured while submitting a recovered firearm into evidence. The firearm discharged accidentally, hitting him in the leg. Units on the scene applied a tourniquet to the Sergeant’s leg, and he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
The incident is under investigation, and details are still emerging.
