Athens-Clarke County Police Charge 12-Year-Old with Terroristic Threats Due to Social Media Posts
On September 5, 2024, Athens-Clarke County Police began receiving reports about threatening posts on social media. The posts included images of firearms and mentioned several schools in Clarke County.
ACCPD detectives and crime analysts traced the account and identified the suspect, a 12-year-old resident of Athens. The juvenile was charged with Terroristic Threats and has been detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect did not possess any weapons, and the images of firearms used in the posts were sourced from the internet.
