Motorcycle Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash in Clarke County

On August 29th, at approximately 5:48 PM, the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Department pursued a motorcycle into Clarke County on Lexington Road. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) was not involved in the pursuit.

As the motorcycle approached the intersection of Lexington Road and Woodgrove Drive, it collided with a vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle did not survive the crash.

The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation into the collision. This incident marks the seventh fatal crash in Athens-Clarke County in 2024.
