Teen Shot and Killed in Troup County; Authorities Launch Murder Investigation

On August 28th, at 4:22 p.m., deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Montrose Way following reports of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies and other first responders found a 16-year-old male outside the residence who appeared to have been shot in the chest and was unresponsive.

Deputies and first responders immediately began life-saving procedures, including CPR. Once an ambulance arrived on the scene, the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as Kyren Rainn Johnson, a 16-year-old male.
