Teen Injured in Shooting Near Elementary School in Hinesville; Suspect in Custody

On Tuesday, August 27, at approximately 3:11 PM, Hinesville Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Lancaster Loop in Hinesville, Georgia. Officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound near Lyman Hall Elementary School.

A significant police presence formed at Lyman Hall Elementary School as first responders attended to the victim and searched for additional victims. Officers at Lancaster Loop located a person of interest, who was taken into custody without incident.

This investigation is ongoing, and because all individuals involved are juveniles, their identities will not be released. The Hinesville Police Department assures the community that there is no active threat and that no staff members or students at Lyman Hall Elementary School were in danger.
