Theft Victim in Forsyth County Found to Be Registered Sex Offender Who Failed to Report

On July 31, 2024, Michael Eugene Tuggle, a registered sex offender, reported a theft to Forsyth County 911. Tuggle claimed that someone had contacted him, alleging he had an outstanding warrant, and demanded $600 to avoid arrest.

While filing the theft report, Tuggle informed patrol deputies that he resided in Forsyth County, contradicting his official registration in another county. Deputies forwarded this information to the Sex Offender Registration Unit.

Following an investigation, detectives issued a felony arrest warrant for Tuggle. He was charged with Failure to Comply with Requirements as a Sex Offender. Registered sex offenders are required to report their move to a new address within 72 hours.
