Woman Arrested in Dalton Underwood Lodge Stabbing
The Dalton Police Department has arrested a suspect following an early morning stabbing that left a man with life-threatening injuries. The suspect, 26-year-old Rosie Lourdes Monterrey-DeLeon, faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and using a knife during the commission of a felony.
Authorities were dispatched to the Underwood Lodge at 1306 Underwood Street shortly after midnight on Friday, August 9th, in response to a stabbing report. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported by ambulance from the scene and later airlifted to a trauma center in Chattanooga.
Upon arrival, officers reviewed security footage showing Monterrey-DeLeon entering one of the rooms at the lodge. When the suspect refused to exit the room, the Georgia State Patrol’s SWAT team was called in to assist. The SWAT team breached the door and apprehended Monterrey-DeLeon without further incident around 3:30 AM.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital earlier this morning and is expected to recover. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police have not yet determined the motive behind the stabbing.
