Columbus Police Arrest 19-Year-Old in Connection to February Shooting Death

On August 7, 2024, Columbus Police Officers arrested Marquis Poole, 19, on charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Poole is connected to the shooting death of Earkus Porter, Jr., 18. The incident occurred on February 25, 2024, at approximately 1:41 a.m. in the 700 block of Parkview Drive, Belvedere Park. Officers found Porter with gunshot wounds at the scene.

Despite the efforts of EMS, Porter was pronounced deceased by Coroner Buddy Bryan at 2:21 a.m. The Violent Crimes Unit is handling the investigation.
