Man Arrested After Being Shot During Altercation in Chatham County
Chatham County Police Department has arrested a man on multiple charges following an altercation that led to the suspect being shot on Monday night.
Officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Oak Forest Drive around 10:00 p.m. Upon arrival, witnesses informed the officers that an adult male had come to the residence uninvited and initiated a verbal argument and assault on another adult male. The two men were known to each other.
As the assault continued, the victim shot the man who attacked him, according to witnesses.
The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Diego Holland, has been charged with battery, burglary in the 1st degree, and two counts of cruelty to children in the 3rd degree after detectives determined he was the aggressor.
No charges are expected to be filed against the victim, who detectives concluded acted in self-defense.
