Three Arrested in Burglary of Gear and Axle Business in Macon, Stolen Vehicle Recovered

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit arrested three men in connection with the burglary of Gear and Axle, a commercial business at 5156 Houston Road in Macon, on July 29, 2024. Deputies responded to the burglary report around 6:00 p.m. and were informed by a witness that three men had removed property from the closed business and fled in a vehicle.

On July 30, 2024, deputies spotted the suspects inside the vehicle at a commercial business in the 4400 block of Broadway. They were in possession of an additional vehicle, which was later found to be stolen. The suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle and left the area. The Gang Unit located them at a residence on Walker Road. Two suspects were apprehended immediately, and the third was found hiding under the home.

The suspects were identified as Joseph Edward McCranie, 53; Joshua Adam Mobley, 34; and Jonathan Monroe Wiley, 56. McCranie faces charges of Felony Second Degree Burglary and Theft by Taking Auto. Mobley is charged with First Degree Burglary. Wiley is also charged with First Degree Burglary and was wanted in Jones County. All three are being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
