Suspect Arrested in Marietta Vehicle Break-In Spree; Over 70 Vehicles Targeted
Over the past five weeks, a significant number of vehicles have been broken into across Marietta. The perpetrators flipped vehicle door handles, and if locked, broke a window to force entry. These incidents occurred at random locations, typically one night each week. In total, over 70 vehicles were entered, with numerous items stolen, including three handguns.
While the investigation is still ongoing, detectives have identified and apprehended one suspect from the crew. Nineteen-year-old Christopher Emerson of Marietta, who was out on bond from a previous arrest by the Marietta Police Department for entering autos, was rearrested at his residence on Wednesday night, July 24th.
Emerson faces 18 new felony charges and one new misdemeanor charge and is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are likely. Anyone with information related to these incidents or the crew responsible is urged to contact Detective Randall at the Marietta Police Department.
