Johns Creek Police Department Receives Fifth Advanced Re-Accreditation from CALEA
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, the Johns Creek Police Department (JCPD) was awarded its Fifth Advanced Law Enforcement Re-Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). This award marks the end of a four-year assessment cycle involving annual compliance reviews and an extensive on-site assessment, during which the agency received commendations for its operations, personnel, and community engagement. The JCPD was found in compliance with 100% of applicable standards throughout the cycle.
Following the assessments, Chief of Police Mark Mitchell, Accreditation Manager Valerie Johnson, and Captain Todd Hood attended a hearing before the CALEA Commissioners, who granted the Advanced Re-Accreditation to the agency. The Johns Creek Police Department has maintained continuous compliance with nationally recognized best practices for law enforcement since its original accreditation in 2010.
Chief Mitchell expressed pride in the team’s efforts, stating, “This award is a culmination of the very focused and dedicated work of all our personnel. Our employees seek to Make a Difference through an inspired sense of purpose and passion to serve our organization and the very supportive community we engage with each day.”
