Man Arrested After Hours-Long Standoff in Brunswick Home
A man is under arrest after a standoff on Leslie Lane in Brunswick, which began on the night of Sunday, July 28, and extended into the early morning hours of Monday, July 29.
The incident started just after 6:30 p.m. when Glynn County Police responded to a call about an intoxicated male, later identified as Christopher Geisser, who was reportedly attempting suicide. Geisser was in possession of a rifle and had fired a shot through a bedroom window from inside the home. It was also reported that two women were inside the home, and one might have been held hostage.
Glynn County’s SWAT unit and Crisis Negotiation Team were dispatched to the scene. After several hours of negotiation, Geisser was persuaded to surrender peacefully. It was determined that the woman was not being held hostage. During the standoff, the GCPD SWAT team requested assistance from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, which provided a Tactical Armored BearCat vehicle to remove a door at the residence.
Geisser has been transported to the Glynn County Detention Center and faces charges of Reckless Conduct, Obstruction of Law Enforcement, and Criminal Trespass.
