Tifton Police Arrests Four in Connection with Recent Auto Thefts
On July 24, 2024, at approximately 3:32 a.m., officers from the Tifton Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the vicinity of 12th Street and Love Avenue due to traffic violations. The stop resulted in the detention of three male juveniles and a 17-year-old individual. During an inventory of the stopped vehicle, officers discovered stolen property.
A detective was contacted and briefed on the situation, leading to a further investigation. Following a review of surveillance footage and interviews, detectives linked the individuals to a series of recent auto thefts over the past weekend.
The following charges were filed:
- Derrick Pettiford, 17, of Tifton, was charged with one count of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
- A 16-year-old juvenile from Tifton was charged with ten counts of Entering an Automobile, one count of Curfew Violation, and two counts of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
- A 15-year-old juvenile from Tifton was charged with one count of Driving While Unlicensed, one count of Driving a Vehicle with Suspended Registration, two counts of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and one count of Curfew Violation.
- Another 15-year-old juvenile from Tifton was charged with one count of Curfew Violation and two counts of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
