Clayton County Authorities Arrest Care Home Operator for Abuse and Neglect

The Clayton County Police Department, in cooperation with the Department of Community Health, Adult Protective Services, Clayton County EMS, and Code Enforcement, has arrested Gabriel Robinson for the abuse and neglect of 15 at-risk adults residing in an unlicensed personal care home located at 336 Sir Richard Court.

Recent inspections by Code Enforcement had already cited Robinson for operating a business without a license, but there had not been sufficient grounds to condemn the property. On the day of the arrest, the Department of Community Health was assigned to conduct a wellness check at the residence. During the visit, they discovered 16 men living under Robinson’s care, all of whom were either senior citizens or individuals with diminished capacity and mental health issues. The inspection substantiated that the property was an unlicensed personal care home where Robinson was preparing food, dispensing medications, and providing lodging.

Adult Protective Services responded swiftly to the scene, ensuring all residents were relocated to appropriate care facilities. A search warrant for the property revealed deplorable living conditions, including a severe bedbug infestation, untreated infections, and residents with needs beyond the capabilities of a personal care home. Several residents required hospitalization, while others were placed in legitimate care facilities.

Gabriel Robinson faces 15 counts of neglect, with the financial investigation still ongoing, potentially leading to additional charges. Special recognition is extended to Social Worker Sabrina Calloway, whose instrumental role in dismantling the unlicensed personal care home on Sir Richard Court was pivotal. Sabrina’s coordination with multiple agencies ensured the success of this operation without alerting the house managers, who might have otherwise relocated the residents.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Code Enforcement, Adult Protective Services, the Department of Community Health, Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services, and local police, the allegations were substantiated, Robinson was arrested, and the residents received immediate medical treatment and placement into legitimate facilities.
