New State-of-the-Art Firing Range in Crisp County Enhances Officer Training and Public Safety

The opening of a new firing range marks a significant step in enhancing public safety and professional development. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology and training tools to ensure officers receive the highest level of training. Inveris Training Solutions designed the Range Master 9000 Target System specifically for the range’s needs, allowing complete control over stationary, moving, and 360-degree turning targets.

The CCSO range now features a twenty-target system with two banks of ten targets each. These can be operated together or as separate banks depending on the number of shooters. This advanced system aims to enhance the readiness and effectiveness of the force, contributing to a safer community.

While the range will primarily be used to train officers, Firearms Familiarization Classes will also be reintroduced to the public throughout the year. This achievement was made possible with support from state and local governments, as well as community partners.

Sheriff Billy Hancock expressed gratitude, stating, “Thank you to our Crisp County Board of Commissions, state government, community partners, vendors, and individuals who contributed to the CCSO Firing Range Project. Your belief in this project and your contributions have been invaluable. Thank you for helping us build a stronger and safer community.”

A special partnership with Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) also played a crucial role. The DNR agreed to lease the existing range at the Fish Hatchery to the agency for $1 a year, allowing for property investment and upgrades to the range.
