Two Arrested in Newton County After Highway Shooting Incident
Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident that began at Baileys gas station, located at Salem Road and Highway 81. The shooting continued at two separate locations: Highway 162 and Lover’s Lane, and Highway 162 at Parkwood Drive.
The incident started when offenders in a white sedan followed the victim’s car from the gas station and fired several rounds at it. Crime scene units and an on-call investigator arrived at the scenes to begin their investigation. The offenders’ vehicle was later found at a home in Newton County, where deputies made contact with the occupants. A search warrant was issued for the residence and vehicle, resulting in two arrests: Giovanni Allen and Jamal Donahue, both residents of Covington, GA.
Charges:
- Giovanni Allen: Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Discharging a Firearm on a Public Highway, and Aggravated Assault.
- Jamal Donahue: Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
