Woman Fatally Shot in Chatham County, Police Investigate Targeted Incident

The Chatham County Police Department is investigating after a woman was fatally shot late Wednesday afternoon.

Chatham County Police Department officers were dispatched to the 300 block of N. Lathrop Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. When they arrived, they found an adult female suffering from a gun shot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased.
Based on preliminary investigative information, detectives do not believe the shooting was a random incident and the search for the suspect is continuing.
