Teen Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 14-Year-Old in Ocilla

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 16-year-old Earl Wilcox III of Ocilla, Irwin County, Georgia, in connection with the shooting death of 14-year-old Marcaulen Downs. Wilcox faces charges of Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.

The incident occurred on Monday, June 24, 2024, around 6:50 p.m. when the GBI responded to a shooting incident on Frank Road in Ocilla, following a request for assistance from the Ocilla Police Department. Downs, who suffered a gunshot wound, was transported to Irwin County Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Wilcox is currently held at a Regional Youth Detention Center pending further legal proceedings.
