GBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Buena Vista

In Buena Vista, Georgia, an officer-involved shooting prompted an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on June 17, 2024. The Buena Vista Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting two individuals with guns threatening a homeowner. Upon arrival, gunfire was exchanged between the officers and at least one of the suspects. A Buena Vista police officer and a Marion County sheriff’s deputy returned fire, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The individuals involved fled the scene following the incident. The GBI has taken charge of the investigation, which remains active. Upon completion, findings will be handed over to the Muscogee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for further review.
