18-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Fatal Athens Shooting

Athens-Clarke County Police, with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, have arrested Janiya Moore, 18, of Athens, in connection with the fatal shooting of Cameron Manago on May 27th. Moore has been charged with Felony Murder and Tampering with Evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.

Incident Summary

On May 27th, at approximately 10:25 PM, Athens-Clarke County Police responded to a shooting at Rolling Ridge Apartments. Upon arrival, officers found Cameron Manago, 20, with a gunshot wound. Manago was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Zyquavious Thomas, 16, of Athens, has already been arrested and charged with Felony Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Aggravated Assault. Thomas is being charged as an adult.

The investigation utilized footage from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Real-Time Crime Center, provided through a partnership with Rolling Ridge Apartments. The center is still in its early stages of development and not yet fully operational.
