Embraer Renews Lease, Solidifies Commitment to Macon-Bibb County

Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services (EAMS) has reaffirmed its commitment to Macon-Bibb County by renewing its lease with the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN). The new lease agreement, effective immediately, ensures the continuation of Embraer’s operations in the region.

Originally leasing property at the airport in 2018, Embraer’s short-term agreement allowed the company to assess the local business environment. Under the previous lease, Embraer committed to creating 100 jobs, a number the MBCIA hopes will increase with this renewed commitment.

“Embraer has been a valued tenant at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport for the past 6 years, I am excited that we have finalized another lease agreement with them,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “Their ongoing presence not only solidifies our partnership but also reaffirms the thriving business environment we are nurturing in Macon-Bibb County.”

The new Intergovernmental Ground Lease Agreement includes an initial five-year lease with provisions for up to two five-year renewal options, potentially extending Embraer’s presence in Macon-Bibb County for up to 15 more years. This underscores Embraer’s ongoing investment in the local workforce and its role in fostering economic development in the area.

“We are excited to extend the lease on our Macon hanger,” said Jason Grafton, Managing Director at Embraer. “As the partnership between Macon and Embraer continues to grow, this extension further solidifies and strengthens our commitment to the community along with our customers.”

Under the terms of the renewed lease, the MBCIA will continue to provide space for Embraer at the airport, covering all operational costs in exchange for rent payments. Chairman Robby Fountain emphasized the significance of industry retention, citing Embraer as a key player in job creation and the vitality of the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. He views the lease renewal as a strong endorsement of the collaborative efforts and business-friendly environment in Macon-Bibb County.
