Suspect Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Spanning Counties
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputy successfully apprehends a wanted suspect after a high-speed pursuit that spanned counties. The incident began when the deputy attempted to pull over a Land Rover Discovery that was racing another vehicle on Pio Nono Avenue. The driver of the Land Rover, ignoring signals to stop, accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 mph, endangering public safety and disregarding traffic signals.
The pursuit continued into Houston County, where the driver, a wanted individual, made a bold attempt to flee on foot. Ignoring repeated commands and warnings from the deputy, the suspect exited the moving vehicle with a firearm in hand. Despite the deputy’s efforts to verbally detain him, the suspect persisted in his attempt to escape.
Video footage reveals the suspect’s refusal to comply with the deputy’s instructions, ignoring eleven commands before being subdued with a taser and taken into custody. The 21-year-old suspect faces multiple charges including Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Felony Obstruction, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, along with outstanding warrants from Houston County.
An 18-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding, as well as Misdemeanor Obstruction. Both individuals are in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
