Single-Vehicle Accident Near Boulevard NE and John Lewis Freedom Pkwy Results in Fatality

On May 27, 2024, at approximately 2:28 a.m., officers from Atlanta Police Zone 6 responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident with injuries near Boulevard NE and John Lewis Freedom Parkway NE.

Upon arrival, officers found a 30-year-old male driver in critical condition. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle and struck a utility pole. The Accident Investigations Unit is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
