Police Investigate Firearms Incident at Columbus Recreation Center

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 4:54 p.m., Columbus Police officers rushed to the Shirley B. Winston Recreation Center at 5025 Steam Mill Road following reports of a dispute. Witnesses stated that multiple individuals brandished guns during the altercation. However, upon the officers’ arrival, the parties involved had already departed the scene.

As a safety measure, the gymnasium within the recreation center was temporarily closed to forestall any potential escalation. The Columbus Police Department has initiated an investigation into the incident, underscoring their seriousness in addressing firearm-related matters.
