Eleven Injured in Savannah Shooting at Ellis Square

Savannah police detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Ellis Square on May 18, leaving multiple people injured.

The incident took place at 11:55 p.m., prompting a response from multiple precincts following reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and discovered several individuals with gunshot wounds. First aid was administered, and the injured were transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center for further treatment.

A total of 11 adult victims were identified and treated for their injuries, with no reported fatalities thus far.

Police conducted interviews with numerous witnesses and gathered evidence at the scene as part of their ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020.

Update:  William Anthony Mitchell, 20, has been arrested in connection with the shooting in Ellis Square on May 19.  He was taken into custody by the Savannah Police on May 21.  He has been charged with 4 counts of aggravated assault and 4 counts of possession of firearm during commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes.  

All victims from this incident have been treated and released from Memorial Health University Medical Center.
