Double Homicide Under Investigation at Columbus Apartment Complex
On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 6:48 p.m., Columbus Police responded to reports of a shooting at the 4700 block of Milgen Road (The Lowell Apartments). Upon arrival, officers found a Black female, later identified as Kayla Jenkins, 23, outside with gunshot wounds. Inside one of the units, a Black male, later identified as Deandre Jones, 27, was also found with gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts by EMS, both victims could not be resuscitated and were pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Dustin Harrelson. The Violent Crimes Unit has taken charge of the investigation.
