Police Seize Six Firearms in Athens Apartment Search

Athens-Clarke County Police Department Gang Unit conducted a search warrant on May 17th at an apartment in Rolling Ridge Apartments, Athens, GA. Demetrius Lumpkin, 38, of Athens, GA, was found in possession of six firearms during the search, including four handguns, a pistol grip AK rifle, and a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun, along with high-capacity magazines.

Lumpkin, initially charged with Reckless Conduct, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering with Evidence from a previous incident on May 12th, now faces additional charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (x6) and Reckless Conduct (x2).

The search warrant stemmed from a “Reckless Conduct” incident on May 12th involving gunfire within the complex. Utilizing the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s RealTime Crime Center, video footage obtained through a partnership with Rolling Ridge Apartments was instrumental in ensuring officer safety and the successful execution of the search warrant.
