Macon Teen Arrested After Police Pursuit in Stolen Car Incident
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with Gang and SRT Units, have arrested a suspect in connection with a Theft by Taking Auto case. The incident unfolded on Friday afternoon.
On May 17, 2024, shortly before 12:30 p.m., deputies identified a stolen vehicle heading west on Jeffersonville Road. Attempts to halt the vehicle were unsuccessful as the driver refused to comply, initiating a pursuit. The chase proceeded north on Riverside Drive until the driver veered off the road, colliding with the steps of a residence in the 100 block of Madison Street. Following the crash, the driver fled on foot towards a nearby cemetery, where deputies successfully apprehended him. No injuries were reported from the collision. The stolen Honda Pilot has since been recovered.
The driver, identified as 17-year-old Andrew Howard of Macon, was taken into custody and transported to Investigations Headquarters for further processing. Subsequently, Howard was transferred to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Andrew Howard faces multiple charges including two counts of Felony Theft by Taking Auto, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana. He is currently being held without bond.
