Atlanta Police Officer Arrested for Murder of Lyft Driver in Union City
On May 15th, 2024, Officer Koby Minor of the Atlanta Police Department (APD) was arrested by the Union City Police Department on charges of murder. The arrest came after Union City PD responded to a shooting call at approximately 12:40 a.m. near South Fulton Parkway and Stonewall Tell Road.
Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male, later identified as Lyft driver Reginald Folks, who had succumbed to his injuries. Officer Minor was also present at the scene, and Union City PD confirmed that he had shot the victim.
Following his arrest, Minor submitted his resignation to the APD, effective immediately. Minor had been hired by the Atlanta Police Department in July 2018. Prior to his arrest in Union City, he had been on unpaid administrative leave since December 2023, after being arrested in Milton, GA on drug charges.
During his administrative leave, Minor was relieved of his department-issued firearm, which remained in the custody of the APD.
