Arrest Made After Shooting Incident at South River Gardens Convenience Store

Late night, on May 15, 2024, Atlanta police rushed to a convenience store situated at 3012 Jonesboro Rd. in the South River Gardens locality after receiving reports of a shooting incident involving a woman.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that the victim had been taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Authorities relocated to the hospital to speak with the injured woman. Initial inquiries suggest that the victim was shot by another woman during a disagreement at the scene. The victim provided details regarding the suspect and the vehicle she was driving.

Law enforcement units searched the vicinity and located the suspect’s vehicle near Cleveland Avenue. However, upon spotting the officers, the suspect attempted to escape but ended up crashing her vehicle on Jonesboro Rd. Police managed to detain the suspect and recovered a firearm from her vehicle.

The identified suspect, Briana Abner, is facing charges of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Aggravated Assault. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
