Man Shot in the Bankhead Area, Investigation Hindered by Lack of Cooperation

On May 10th, 2024, at approximately 11:44 AM, Atlanta officers were flagged down in the area of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW in reference to a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a 54-year-old male who sustained an apparent gunshot wound to the right leg. The male was conscious. He refused to be transported for medical treatment and stated that he would transport himself to the hospital.

Following the completion of their investigation, officers left the scene but were later called to 503 Rhodes Street NW at approximately 5:01 PM, in reference to the same male. The male advised that he would now like medical treatment for his injuries and was subsequently transported to the hospital.

Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to the initial call to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident occurred at 644 Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard, however, the male was not forthcoming with officers when he was interviewed regarding the incident. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
