Brooks County Deputies Respond to Dog Attack on Minors in Quitman, Discover Deceased Man on Property

The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office has requested the assistance of Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents to investigate the death of Courtney Williams, 35 years old.

Preliminary reports suggest that on Thursday, May 9, 2024, around 4:45 p.m., deputies from the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint in the 2000 block of Webster Road, Quitman, Georgia. The complaint involved multiple minors allegedly being attacked by a dog.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered several aggressive dogs at the scene. It was determined that some minors had already been taken to a nearby hospital. Williams’ body was discovered in the yard of the residence.

The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of Williams’ death.
