High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest of Suspect with Stolen Vehicle and Drugs

A high-speed chase ensued in Cordele, Georgia, on May 4, 2024, when a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a grey Toyota Rav4 at the intersection of GA 30 W and Old Albany Road. The vehicle, reported stolen from North Carolina, prompted the driver to flee, leading law enforcement on a pursuit through the city and onto the interstate. The chase extended into Dooly County, where the driver lost control, crashing the vehicle near the rest area at the 108-mile marker of GA 401/I75.

Following the crash, authorities took the driver, identified as 22-year-old Ronavon Kelley from Charlotte, North Carolina, into custody. Kelley faces multiple charges, including theft, felony fleeing, and drug-related offenses. Upon searching the stolen vehicle, law enforcement discovered suspected marijuana and psilocybin, along with a checkbook and a P-EBT Card. Kelley was transported to the Crisp County Detention Center for processing.
