Manhunt Underway for Escaped Inmate in Newton County
Wanted: Kendrick Hurst

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), along with Covington Police Department, Conyers Police Department, and Georgia State Patrol, are currently in pursuit of Kendrick Hurst, a 34-year-old inmate who escaped from Piedmont Newton this afternoon.

Hurst, described as 5’10” and 190lbs, with black hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a bright lime green jumpsuit. He has facial tattoos and fled the area on foot.

Hurst was apprehended on April 28, 2024, and faced charges including terroristic threats and acts, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, and numerous traffic violations.

Authorities urge anyone with information on Hurst’s whereabouts to contact 911 immediately.

Update – May 5, 2024: According to NCSO, there has been a confirmed sighting of Kendrick Hurst in the area of City Pond Road, Covington. He is now wearing what appears to be a red durag, no shirt, and dark blue jeans. Call 911 if you see him.
