Gwinnett County Firefighters Tackle Two Blazes, Rescue Pets, and Ensure Resident Safety
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services had a busy morning responding to two working fires. The first fire occurred at 2:18 a.m. on the 3900 Block of Willowmeade Dr in Snellville.
Firefighters found a two-story home with heavy fire on the back side extending from the basement to the attic. Crews swiftly deployed handlines and the Ladder Truck, bringing the fire under control in about 45 minutes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross is assisting six residents.
The second fire broke out at 11:03 a.m. on the 2900 block of Evonshire Ln in Dacula. Firefighters arrived to find fire venting from a second-story window. They quickly deployed two hand lines, bringing the blaze under control within 20 minutes. Thanks to the sound of smoke alarms, occupants were alerted to the fire and safely evacuated. Firefighters rescued two cats, providing them with oxygen using pet oxygen masks carried on their apparatus. Again, no injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross is assisting five residents.
