GBI Investigating Death of Bulloch County Jail Inmate

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an investigation into the death of Robert Linwood Chavers, a 68-year-old inmate at the Bulloch County Jail in Statesboro, Georgia.

The inquiry was initiated following a request from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at approximately 7:20 a.m. Jail staff found Chavers unresponsive in his cell around 6:30 a.m. Despite attempts to revive him, Chavers was pronounced dead at the jail.
