Athens-Clarke County Police Involved in Shooting Incident
On Friday, May 3rd, 2024, an Officer Involved Shooting occurred in Bethel Homes on Hickman Dr.
Athens-Clarke County Police Officers were on patrol when they attempted to make contact with a subject.
The subject fled, brandishing a firearm, and entered a vehicle. A round was fired, prompting at least one officer to discharge their weapon. The subject then fled the scene in the vehicle but was later apprehended after a pursuit. No injuries from gunfire were reported.
Following ACCPD policy, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will conduct an investigation, and the involved officer will be placed on Administrative Leave.
