Fatal Shooting on Lafayette Drive: Victim Succumbs to Injuries, Police Seek Information

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the Columbus Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a distress call regarding possible gunfire on Lafayette Drive at around 9:12 p.m.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered a victim outside on Lafayette Drive. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and rushed the victim to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital Midtown, where he was admitted in critical condition. The Violent Crimes Unit was summoned to investigate the incident, with Sergeant Demetrius Battle leading the inquiry.

On April 30, 2024, investigators were informed that the victim, identified as Paul Richardson, had succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
