Manchester City Councilwoman Arrested for Falsifying Election Paperwork

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Tameka Lowe, 46, from Manchester, Meriwether County, Georgia, with two counts of False Swearing and one count of Violation of Oath by Public Officer.

The investigation began on February 8, 2024, when the Manchester Police Department requested the GBI to look into allegations against Lowe. It was claimed that she had provided false information regarding her criminal history on election paperwork. Specifically, Lowe allegedly falsified her criminal history record information on a Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit when she applied to run for a vacant Manchester City Council position. Additionally, it’s reported that she falsely swore to the City of Manchester Oath of Public Officer after being elected to the City Council position.

Following the investigation, Lowe was booked into the Meriwether County Jail.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Meriwether County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
