Gwinnett County Police Arrest Duo for Staging Fake Robbery
Gwinnett County Police detectives have arrested a man and a woman for staging a fake robbery.
50-year-old Esperanza Marisol Chacon of Norcross reported to 911 on April 5 that she was robbed while closing her business at 1461 Pirkle Road in Norcross earlier that morning. According to Chacon, when she was exiting the business at approximately 1:00 am, a man armed with a handgun forced her back into the business and stole approximately $2,800.
During the investigation, detectives conducted interviews and examined multiple cameras in and around the location. This led to the identification of 55-year-old David Cruz Galeano o Jonesboro as the prime suspect in the April 5th robbery incident. On April 15th, Galeano was located and arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit. Detectives interviewed Galeano and based on information provided, decided to bring back Chacon for a follow-up interview.
The investigation revealed that Chacon and Galeano conspired to fabricate the robbery.
Chacon has been charged with False Report of a Crime, Theft by Taking Felony, and Party to a Crime, while Galeano faces charges of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Felonies.
