Police in Carrollton have made significant strides in their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in the area. Earlier this month, the Carrollton Police ACE (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Unit carried out a search warrant at 606 S. Park Street, Venue at Carrollton Apartments, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug-related activities. This operation was also linked to a February shooting investigation at The Foundry apartments.

As a result of the operation, three individuals have been arrested and charged. Joseph Thompson, 22, of Carrollton, Georgia, faces charges including Sale of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Oxycodone, and Possession of a Machine Gun. Jhakil Murphy, also 22 and from Carrollton, Georgia, has been charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Firearm During Certain Crimes. Kaitlyn White, 21, of Carrollton, Georgia, has been charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.

All three suspects were taken to the Carroll County Jail and later released on bond.

During the operation, detectives seized several pounds of suspected marijuana, oxycodone pills, promethazine, a substantial amount of currency, and several firearms. Of particular concern was one firearm found, which is believed to have a mechanism that allows it to be converted into a fully automatic weapon.

The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Unit (ACE), a joint effort between the Carrollton Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and the University of West Georgia Police Department, spearheaded this operation.
