Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a house fire on Wednesday evening in Snellville. At 8:32 p.m., emergency services were alerted to the blaze on the 4100 block of Crestside Ridge.

The initial report came from an occupant who informed 911 that their home was ablaze, expressing concern that people might still be inside. Thankfully, it was later confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated.

Upon arrival, fire crews discovered heavy flames emanating from the garage of a two-story residence. They promptly deployed three hose lines and an aerial ladder truck to douse the fire. There were no injuries reported.

The fire originated in the garage while a mechanic was working on a vehicle, who quickly alerted the household and evacuated himself. The mechanic cranked the vehicle and stated fire erupted out of the engine compartment. Smoke alarms were functional within the home at the time.

Though the fire displaced two adults and two children, they opted to seek accommodation with relatives and friends rather than accept assistance from the American Red Cross.

While initial concerns prompted a call to Fire Investigators, the firefighters determined the incident to be accidental, with the fire originating in the garage.
