Police Respond to Armed Threat at Statesboro Park, Uncover BB Gun
On April 19, 2024, Statesboro Police responded to a concerning situation at a park in Statesboro, GA, after a man reported being armed and threatening anyone who approached him.
Upon arrival, officers found the man visibly distressed with a revolver on the bench next to him. Despite his threats, officers managed to safely disarm and detain him using non-lethal methods.
The individual was then taken to the hospital for evaluation and the revolver was recovered. After examination, the “revolver” turned out to be a CO2 powered BB gun. From a distance, the BB gun looks like a real weapon.
The officers’ swift and effective response prevented a potentially dangerous situation. This incident underscores the commendable work carried out by law enforcement in our community on a daily basis.
