Serious Crash on I-285 EB in Dunwoody Leaves One Critical

In the early hours of Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at approximately 2:54 am, the Dunwoody Police Department responded to a distress call regarding a motor vehicle collision on I-285 EB at Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Upon arrival, officers encountered a harrowing scene: a white Ford Mustang had collided with the rear of a dump truck, leaving one individual critically injured.

According to initial reports, the Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on I-285, passing the Chamblee Dunwoody Road bridge when the accident occurred. The impact caused the Mustang to become wedged beneath the dump truck, with both vehicles continuing to travel along the eastbound lanes before coming to a halt.

Emergency services, including Dekalb Fire and AMR, arrived at the scene, extracting the driver of the Ford Mustang and initiating life-saving measures. The driver, identified as a 26-year-old female, was transported to Grady Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the dump truck did not sustain any injuries.
