Inn Town Suites Fire in Norcross: Rapid Response Saves Lives, 50 Displaced

A fire broke out at the Inn Town Suites located at 6067 Buford Highway NW in Norcross on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, prompting a swift response from firefighters. The incident was reported at 4:53 p.m. by a caller who observed flames on the bottom floor extending to nearby vegetation and the roof line of the building. People were already beginning to evacuate when the call was made.

Firefighters arrived at the scene just three minutes later, at 4:56 p.m., and found a working fire on a two-three split-level hotel. Multiple fire hoses were deployed to combat the flames, and efforts were made to assist in evacuating the hotel. Search teams confirmed that everyone had safely escaped the building.

The fire was brought under control by fire attack teams at 5:32 p.m. Utility services to the affected hotel building, provided by Atlanta Gas Light and Georgia Power, were disconnected as a safety measure.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. However, approximately 50 individuals were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is working with hotel management to provide assistance to those affected.

All firefighters involved in the operation rotated through rehabilitation before returning to service. Fire investigators are currently on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
