GBI Agents Investigate Inmate Death in Eastman

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to look into the death of an inmate in Eastman, GA.

On April 15, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., the GBI was called upon by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office concerning an unresponsive inmate named Ronald Shaw, aged 36, from Villa Rica, GA. Shaw was found unresponsive in his cell around 9:50 p.m. by jail staff. He was transported to Dodge County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Shaw’s body will undergo examination at the GBI Crime Lab, where a medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.
