Fraudulent Prescription Incident Prompts Investigation at Cartersville Walmart
Wanted suspect

Bartow County Deputies responded to a fraud report at the Walmart located at 101 Market Place Blvd in Cartersville, Georgia, on Friday, February 16, 2024.

Walmart Pharmacy notified authorities after an unidentified male submitted paperwork for 90 Oxycodone-acetaminophen (Percocet) tablets, claiming it was for a family member. However, upon returning to pick up the prescription, the individual was informed that further clarification was needed. The person left the store after being questioned.

Following protocol, the pharmacy contacted the medical facility listed on the prescription and found no doctor by the signed name or any patient matching the provided information. Further investigation revealed that the doctor’s name on the prescription had not issued it and had no record of the individual named on the paperwork.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 770-382-5050 ext. 6098.
